I’m sitting here late at night, not in bed. I’m a routine guy so I always like to be in bed no later than 10. What’s changed?
I have a newborn son. If you’ve ever had a child you know that they can make the best-laid plans irrelevant.
I’ve been tackling so much lately. So much in fact that I had to take a pause for several days because it was just too much. I had pushed myself to the limit. I took on a second rental property with a busy work schedule all while having a newborn.
As I sit here writing this, I’ve got a lot on my plate. No way could the old me have handled everything that I’ve got going on right now. Yes, its overwhelming at times but I can handle it.
The question I want you to ask yourself is: is it time to level up?
If you have a goal in your life or you are chasing after something, eventually you MUST level up. To some this may come pretty easy but, for most, it won’t. Leveling up is something you’ve got to decide to do.
How do you level up?
The best (and most frightening way) is to give yourself no option. Take on a crazy challenge. Burn the boats. Make success the only option.
You must be thinking to yourself “Isn’t that a bit too far?”
To be honest, it may be. When I signed up on the dotted line for my second rental property I knew it was going to need a lot of attention.
I had 4 weeks till my son’s due date and I was under the gun. The pressure absolutely got to me but I was looking forward to the challenge.
About a week before he was born I developed a little twitch under my eye. Did I take it too far? Eh maybe but this isn’t permanent. I knew that this would eventually pass.
I knew it was going to be a challenge. Now that it’s over I can look back on it and say that I’m glad I did it but not sure I’d want to do it again.
Is it time to level up?
So as you go through life, I want you to think if its time to level up. Are you getting where you want to go? Are you heading in the right direction? If you aren’t, it may be time to burn the boat, take on a new challenge and give yourself no option but success.
